When it comes to climate change and sustainable development, there’s no space for half measures.

A selection that's demanding today, and even more demanding tomorrow.
As a historical partner in electrification and energy efficiency, we constantly strive to make your activity easier, more efficient and more sustainable. Today, we are accelerating our efforts with our Sustainable Selection to offer you the most responsible products (with least impact on the planet, respecting ethical values and contributing to energy transition).
We are at the start of the journey, and we will aim ever higher in our selection criteria in complete transparency to help you make the right choice from among our range of products and brands.
It couldn't be easier: when you search for products on the Ideal webshop, you will see the Sustainable Selection icon on all eligible products. The same logo can also be found on the product page, where you will discover the satisfied requirements that led to the product being selected.

Supplier engagement and responsible sourcing are critical pillars of Ideals Sustainable Selection. That is why our selection only considers suppliers who have signed the Ideal Sustainable Supplier Charter. This charter states the commitments required by Ideal from its suppliers, service providers and subcontractors, in terms of ethics, respect for human rights, protection of employees' rights, respect for the environment and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. It is thus the cornerstone of lasting and trust-based commercial relationships between Ideal and its suppliers.
By engaging suppliers and partners in sustainability initiatives, Ideal can influence and promote sustainable practices across the entire value chain. We are only at the start of our journey, and we will progressively raise our standards in the selection of our suppliers with more demanding commitments. This integrated approach promotes long-term viability, fosters stakeholder trust, and contributes to a more resilient and responsible business ecosystem.
The Rexel Group aims to have 80% of its supplier base sign the charter by the end of 2023.
The Energy transition is necessary to fight climate change due to the significant role that energy production and consumption play in greenhouse gas emissions, the primary drivers of global warming. Buildings are responsible for roughly 40% of emissions globally, when considering building materials and operating emissions*.
Energy renovation of buildings is a major challenge in the energy transition. Ideal has opted for a pragmatic framework to move from commitment to action , translating into a selection of products and technologies that make buildings and activities more energy-efficient: LED lighting, renewable energies (solar and wind), heat pump solutions, smart building solutions for energy optimization (all the communication technologies that help to automatically adapt the amount of heating, lighting and/or energy consumption to occupancy levels at any given moment or to the strict minimum).
Here again, we will progressively adapt our selection to integrate the most efficient technologies available and remain in step with the regulations in force.

Consumers often rely on well-known and established eco-labels as a source of information when making sustainable purchasing decisions. A third-party eco-label is considered a trusted source if it provides an independent and credible assessment of a products environmental performance. These labels are objective and independent , based on transparent criteria and standards with a robust certification process.
There is a long list of eco-labels in the energy sector. Ideals Sustainable Selection considers only a selection of the most relevant ones, considering the organisation expertise behind it, the qualification level for the environmental performance, its geographical and product scope of application, together with its reputation and recognition within relevant industries and consumer circles.
Examples of labels (non exhaustive) :
The list of accepted eco-labels will be progressively extended upon the decision of an internal sustainability expert committee.
Ideal goes even further in its level of recommendation, with the main objective being to guide our customers towards more responsible purchasing behaviors. Every product has an environmental impact at each stage of its life cycle. Thanks to Ideals in-house expertise from the award-winning Carbon Tracker Tool intelligence, we are able to select the best-in-class products for a similar use based on their carbon footprint.
This methodology will be gradually deployed across product categories.

Our Sustainable Selection is a progressive and continuous program that we will continue to implement in the coming years by reinforcing our criteria according to four categories that we have identified to address environmental and social challenges.
Contribution to the customerrrs transition: saved energy, smart systems, sobriety
As the energy of the future and a powerful lever in the fight against climate change, electricity is accelerating the sustainable transformation of communities and energy uses. Faced with the challenge of the energy transition, Ideal shares a major responsibility with all electricity industry shareholders. As a promoter of energy management services and solutions, Ideal places the energy transition at the heart of its value creation strategy, confirming both its ambition and its commitment to building a sustainable future.
Alignment with circular economy principles: durability, reparability, recyclability
Longevity, repairability and recyclability are the key factors that will guarantee the long-term sustainability of the products we sell. Our aim is therefore to promote circular products contributing to a more sustainable and resource-efficient economy by reducing the consumption of raw materials, and promoting the reuse and recycling of materials, and ultimately complying with future regulations for a resilient world.
Impact on the environment and society over the full lifecycle: carbon emission, resource consumption
From one end of the value chain to the other, we want to be in a position to reduce our carbon emissions, as well as those of our partners, customers, and end users. In this respect, one of Ideal-cs priorities is to act as a guide and advisor for our customers. This is our role in order to facilitate the adoption of low-carbon solutions and address climate change.
Monitoring benefits and risks along the value chain: resilience, social benefits, living wage, ethics, compliance
Guaranteeing efficient and enduring sustainability requires a perfect vision along the entire value chain.
What are the consequences of our choices, for our customers, our suppliers and our employees? As a national distributor, Ideal continually influences and promotes sustainable practices across the entire value chain.
